What is Yoga?

Yoga is an ancient modality that was developed over 5,000 years ago.

In ancient India, much as we still do today, people were searching for a way towards peace and contentment. The scholars and sages of that time began to realize that this could not be found externally, that the true source of peace and contentment lies within every being.

Based on this realization they began to create a modality which would affect mind, body and spirit to help all of it's practitioners find their own way "inside."

Yoga means "union" or "to yoke" in Sanskrit, the classical language of India, and that is exactly what you are doing when you practice Yoga, uniting with your "True Self," the Self that lies within, content and non-reliant on any external sources whatsoever.

Yoga can consist of a variety of things, from poses and chanting to breath work and meditation. A yoga class can be comprised of any combination of these things in order to offer you the best workout, mind body and spirit.
